ENGINEERING NOTE 43 / 50 · CARD

Explain a funding operation across three balance layers

OPEN RAMBO ·

A chain transfer, a platform-wallet credit and a card load are separate events. Showing them as one balance hides where a delay occurs.

Published by OPEN RAMBO. The engineering patterns and pseudocode illustrate designs, not a documented product API. Numerical examples are illustrative.

Identify each boundary

The chain provides transfer evidence, the platform ledger records credited value, and the card processor confirms a load. Each can have a different identifier and completion time. Use links between records instead of assuming one transaction hash explains every layer.

Show pending work

If the chain transfer is confirmed but the wallet is not credited, investigate the deposit matching stage. If the wallet is credited but the card is unchanged, inspect the load operation. Asking the user to deposit again before locating the boundary can worsen the problem.

Reconcile fees explicitly

Show gross transfer, applicable fees and net credit according to the product’s actual terms. Keep fee entries distinct from unexplained missing value. Do not infer that a successful blockchain transfer guarantees successful merchant payment later.

Illustrative implementation

chain_transfer -> wallet_credit -> card_load -> merchant_transaction
# Each arrow requires its own confirmed evidence.

Acceptance check

Create a test fixture stalled at each boundary. The interface should identify the pending layer rather than display a generic failure.
